"Im März 1933 [NB: 1 maand voor deze 'terugreis' naar Europa, dus de heenreis vanuit Europa richting de Cariben] unternahm die Caribia ihre Jungfernfahrt von Hamburg über die Westindischen Inseln nach Mittelamerika. Anfang 1939 brachte die Caribia 85 deutsche und österreichische Juden nach Venezuela, die aufgrund einer Ausnahmegenehmigung von Präsident Eleazar López Contreras einreisen durften. Das Schiff hatte zunächst die britische Kolonie Trinidad angelaufen, wo die jüdischen Passagiere jedoch abgewiesen worden waren.".

In early 1939, the Caribia brought 85 German and Austrian Jews to Venezuela, who were allowed to enter the country on the basis of a special permit from President Eleazar López Contreras.
