Zie ook: Aruba : zoals het was, zoals het werd (1953). Oorlogsschepen hebben de Paardenbaai altijd aangedaan. In de negentiende eeuw vormden zij soms de beste verbinding met Curaçao. Hier verlaat het pantserdekschip Zeeland de Paardenbaai in Februari 1912. De foto is genomen van het toen bestaande gezaghebbershuis uit, recht tegenover de Waaf di Rey met het Tolhuis (douandekantoor). Dit is de plaats recht tegenover het huidige Havenkantoor.
