Description:
Caption: Graveyard for junked automobiles in Colony. Climate in Aruba is so corrosive and destructive that automobiles quickly start falling apart from the actuin of the humid, salt air. Fenders are eaten away, exhaust mufflers disintegrate, and springs crack. From time to time, airplane engines have been sent to Aruba for tests of performance under its corrosive climatic conditions. In fact, Aruba refining problems from corrosion are doubled; not only do the engines have to fear inside corrosion of the equipment, but also the external elements. Tests are constantly being run to improve the protective coatings.
