Description:

Caption: Baseball game at Aruba Sports Park in San Nicholas between team from Lago Garage and the Puerto Rican soldiers guarding the plant. In America, baseball is usually played by 18 men in uniform with two or three umpires, one bat and one ball. As played in Aruba, it is engaged in by 200 to 300 people, most of whom are not in uniform but sitting in the stands. An average game may take three to three and one-half hourc in playing, most of the actual time being consumed in arguments as to what should have been done, what will be done and what may be happening at the moment. Every batter who goes to home plate is loudly evaluated by the players in the stands; every decision, right or wrong, is a signal for loud discussion around the home plate.
