Prinses Beatrixschool
De school is een kenmerkend voorbeeld van de Landsgebouwen in de jaren veertig en vijftig voor het onderbrengen van grote groepen mensen. Het zijn langgerekte, kazerne-achtige gebouwen. De architectuur is op het tropenklimaat afgestemd. De ver overstekende daken en de uitstekende horizontale betonnen luifels boven de lichtopeningen bieden schaduw. De vensters hebben diepe nissen en zijn toegerust met beweegbare houten shutterpanelen die het zonlicht weren en het lokaal ventileren. De ronde vensters weerspiegelen de menselijke bewegingen in het gebouw: ze volgen het verloop van de trap in het trappenhuis.

Princess Beatrix School
The school is a typical example of the Government Buildings designed during the forties and the fifties for the purpose of housing larger groups of people: mostly elongated, barracks-like buildings. Monotony, however, is absolutely out of the question here. The climate fronts are smart. These keep out the sunlight and improve the ventilation inside the building. One recognizes this architecture, as at this building, by the roofs sticking far out; protruding horizontal concrete awnings above the light openings; deep-set entrance halls and shutters, equipped with movable wooden shutter panels. The round windows reflect the human motions in the building: they follow the course of the stairway on the staircase.
